The El Cajon Firefighters Association not only represents its 71 members in the area of labor relations, but is also committed to the betterment of the community and the fire service as a whole. Since 1960, over $200,000.00 has been donated to charities in and around the City of El Cajon funding such organizations as the San Diego Burn Institute, The East County Toy Drive, Make-A-Wish Foundation, Little League and Childrens Hospital. Each year the ECFA commits over $10,000.00 to enhance peoples lives in the community that we serve. Through its Political Action Committee, the ECFA helps support legislature that enhances and protects members of the fire service. Currently a bill sponsored by the ECFA is working its way through the legislature. This bill, AB1411, would protect firefighters from false claims of misconduct and would provide the public with a standardized method for seeking improvement to fire department services. We encourage your support of this bill. The Employee/Employer Negotiating Committee is charged with the labor relations aspects of our job and takes the lead in interfacing with our city government in matters of wages, hours and working conditions. All of the events, committees, and donations are funded directly from the pockets of firefighters. More important than the monetary contributions, are the hundreds of man hours that are donated by our members throughout the year. ECFA members currently hold positions as chairpersons of the San Diego Burn Run and Fire Expo, the East County Toy Drive, as well as being recognized for work with the Alzheimer's Association Safe Return Program. |
